Cravings after the festive time of the year have to be the main killer in all diets and health plans known to man. As many other bloggers and scientists have pointed out it can come down to attitude, will power and the body simply going cold turkey without it’s usual supplements. On that note I thought I’d give it ago!

I started this year with a big plan to cut the crap out and really give this diet stuff ago, Main reason? Fatty over here couldn’t get into my trousers after eating too many chocolate Santa’s! If I’m honest my previous weight training plan made me gain 5kg of muscle and then the sudden festive and illness stop, probably pushed all the 5kg muscle in to bulk. Anyway disregarding the pathetic excuses I used a few resources to my disposal, gym plans, mens health training plans and nutrition help to sculpt a plan for myself.

It’s safe to say the main craving I’ve had is sugar and jelly sweets. I can now relate to all those people who cut smoking, drugs and basically anything that attaches to your body like a leech and takes huge commitment and will power to overcome. I realise putting sugar and class A drugs on the same podium is incredibly controversial but I truly believe they are on the same scale of magnitude. I’ve had no energy and huge headaches for the first week and on my cheat day at the end of the week, threw up as my body rejected the naughty takeaway I had.

Now I’ve decided to rein in the lack of sugar and carbs and instead upped my cardio and HIIT training. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll still be dieting but the odd sugar cube or treat needs to happen. In my own personal opinion cutting the things you love out is so hard, therefore I’d say go steady and watch your portions. If you feel yourself reaching for the naughty cupboard for a checky Whisper DON’T! Tell someone or shout it out and have a glass of water, chances are you could just be thirsty
